A dozen individuals had been killed when a small aircraft crashed in northwest Costa Rica Sunday afternoon.
Among the many lifeless had been 10 American passengers, together with 5 members of the family.
The victims had been recognized as Irene and Bruce Steinberg and their kids Matthew, William and Zachary, in addition to Mitchell, Leslie and Hanna Weiss, Amanda Geissler and Gene Szeto.
“The federal government of Costa Rica deeply regrets the dying of 10 American passengers and two Costa Rican pilots,” President Luis Guillermo Solis Rivera stated in an announcement.
Video posted by the Costa Rican Ministry of Public Safety reveals the aircraft downed in a wooded space and engulfed in flames.
The State Division advised the Every day Information Sunday night that it was conscious of the crash.
“We specific our condolences to all these affected by this tragedy. We’re in touch with native authorities and are working with them to find out if there have been U.S. residents on board. We’ll proceed to watch the scenario,” a spokesperson stated.
“The safety of U.S. residents abroad is likely one of the highest priorities for the State Division. We stand prepared to offer all applicable consular help to affected U.S. residents.”
The flight went down close to Punta Islita within the Guanacaste province.
The reason for the crash has not but been recognized.
Former Costa Rican President Laura Chinchilla introduced on Twitter that one of many victims was her cousin, though it’s unclear of the id.
