The San Francisco Giants have acquired infielder Evan Longoria and money from the Tampa Bay Rays for outfielder Denard Span, infielder Christian Arroyo and two minor league pitchers.
The groups introduced the strikes Wednesday.
The 32-year-old Longoria leaves Tampa because the longest-tenured participant in franchise historical past, after spending practically 10 seasons in a Rays uniform. He’s the membership’s all-time chief with 1,435 video games performed, 261 residence runs and 892 RBIs. Of the 30 postseason video games in Rays historical past, all 30 have featured Longoria beginning at third base.
Longoria hit .261 with 20 homers and 86 RBIs final season. He’s anticipated to fill a big void for San Francisco at third. He was the AL Rookie of the Yr in 2008 and received three Gold Gloves.
Arroyo is the Rays’ No. 1-ranked prospect. Tampa is also sending right-hander Stephen Woods and left-hander Matt Krook to San Francisco.
