ALBANY — Faculties Chancellor Carmen Fariña says proposed monetary reporting necessities are “virtually an indication of disrespect” to metropolis colleges.
Testifying at a state funds listening to Wednesday, Fariña instructed lawmakers the necessities contained in Gov. Cuomo’s 2018-19 proposed funds would add one other layer of paperwork and take away from the mission of teaching college students.
“We consider the proposed funds reporting mandate that will permit the state to veto our funds is pointless and a violation of the precept of native management of training choices,” Fariña stated.
Cuomo’s proposal would require college programs to submit per-school funding plans to the state for approval every year. Districts whose funding plans weren’t authorized wouldn’t obtain state support will increase.
