NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Northwestern quarterback Clayton Thorson has been carted off the sphere with an injured proper knee harm after catching a 24-yard cross for the No. 20 Wildcats within the second quarter of the Music Metropolis Bowl.
Thorson handed off to operating again Jeremy Larkin after which ran down the left sideline for a wide-open catch with 14:23 left within the second. Thorson was tackled by Kentucky linebacker Jordan Jones on the Kentucky 5, and the quarterback instantly grabbed his proper knee.
The junior quarterback was beginning his 38th straight sport for Northwestern, and he was four of eight for 35 yards passing when harm.
Thorson was changed by Matt Alviti, and Justin Jackson scored on a 5-yard run on the subsequent play for a 10-7 lead.
