A Tarleton State College scholar is paralyzed after being shot in a case of mistaken id.
Jamie Richards-Hogland’s dad and mom launched a press release to the Dallas Morning Information by which they revealed that their daughter is paralyzed from the shoulders down.
The 19-year-old’s backbone was severed when she was shot inside her Stephenville, Texas, residence on Dec. 10 by Shawn Patrick Layton, who’s been described as a “disgruntled” marijuana purchaser.
A neighbor allegedly admitted that he might have been the supposed goal of Layton, WFAA reviews.
Her mom and father declare she’s “endured an amazing quantity of ache, frustration and nervousness” because of the incident.
“We wish to thank our household, buddies, first responders and members of the medical neighborhood who’ve labored diligently to take care of our daughter,” Richards-Hogland’s dad and mom mentioned.
“We really feel extraordinarily blessed that Jamie is alive and we proceed to hope for a miracle to happen.”
Whereas Richards-Hogland recovers in a Houston-area hospital, present process remedy, a GoFundMe account has been set as much as assist with medical bills.
The account has raised greater than $13,000 thus far.
Layton, 26, is at present being held at Erath County jail on aggravated assault with a lethal weapon and drug possession costs.
His bail is at present set at $805,000.
