A preliminary magnitude four.5 earthquake shook San Francisco Bay Space residents out of their slumber early Thursday.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake’s epicenter was 2 miles (three kilometers) from Berkeley, California. The earthquake had a preliminary depth of eight miles (13 kilometers).
No harm or accidents had been instantly recorded.
The USGS web site says individuals reported feeling the quake 40 miles (64 kilometers) south in San Jose.
