Some clarification is required. Why would any right-thinking Republican ever take a leftist position, even on the highway? And once there, aside from the sheer pleasure of frustrating some pinko Prius driver, why would he ever dawdle behind the wheel of his gas hog?

It's all a matter of perspective. As Republicans proudly tell us, they want to surge backward in all directions (politically, economically, socially, culturally, scientifically, theologically, etc.). And if you are in reverse, then the left lane is the right lane. And to the discerning, those who are in reverse might appear to be a bit slow. But they are very good at interpreting their rearview mirrors, in which images (as every mirror states) are distorted.

And forward vision is not necessary. People "who create their own history" (said of the Bush administration) do not have to bother themselves with such trivia as facts, evidence, logic and other bugaboos of the perverse liberal mind.

Or a sense of humor, for that matter.
