The Deep Well Project grateful for holiday events, community support

The Deep Well Project wants to acknowledge two very special holiday events held on our behalf.

Thanksgiving Day brought the 14th annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner at Hudson's restaurant. Islanders and visitors from all walks of life enjoyed the festive atmosphere, good food and wonderful camaraderie.

This is a free event with donations for Deep Well accepted from guests who are able to do so. We are very thankful to Hudson's and St. Andrew By-the-Sea United Methodist Church for sponsoring this community celebration.

Christmas Eve brought another impressive affair at Vari Asian Restaurant, where hundreds of guests enjoyed their sumptuous buffet at no charge. Once again, those who had the ability to contribute did so, and the proceeds went to Deep Well. Our Deep Well volunteers joined the Vari Asian staff to give diners a delicious dinner and a memorable Christmas Eve. We send our great thanks to the restaurants for their community spirit that benefited Deep Well.

The funds will be used to provide basic needs to islanders experiencing emergency situations. Rent, utilities, medicine, food and home repairs are paid through these donations. They allow Deep Well to keep up with the greatly increased needs of our working poor, sick and disabled residents.

Our Deep Well Project is owned by our whole community, with so many contributing in their own way to ensure all islanders have their basic needs met. Great thanks go to Vari Asian, St. Andrew and Hudson's for their extraordinary giving during the past holiday season.
