A Medical University of South Carolina professor who interviewed Malcolm X in 1963 will give a free lecture on the controversial civil-rights leader Feb. 28.

Dr. J. Herman Blake is expected to discuss his research about the life and work of Malcolm X during the speech at 6:30 p.m. at the Technical College of the Lowcountry's Beaufort Campus.

The NAACP's Burton-Dale-Beaufort branch is hosting the lecture. The group hopes to raise awareness about Malcolm X's life and contributions. The event is open to the public.
