South Carolina picked to finish 3rd in SEC East

South Carolina was picked to finish in third place in the Eastern Division in the 2013 SEC Preseason Baseball Coaches' Poll that was released Tuesday.

The Gamecocks and Kentucky tied for third. The Gamecocks won the SEC East in 2012 and tied for first place and the SEC championship in 2011.

South Carolina has finished in the top three places of the SEC Eastern Division 16 of 21 seasons since joining the league. This season begins on Friday as the Gamecocks host a three-game series with Liberty at Carolina Stadium.

Arkansas is the choice to win the 2013 SEC championship with Vanderbilt the choice to win the West. In addition to picking a preseason champion, the head coaches voted a predicted order of finish in the Eastern and Western Divisions.

Points were compiled on a 7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis for each division. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.
