Palmetto Electric Cooperative has named Berl Davis its executive vice president and chief operating officer, effective April 1, president and CEO Tom Upshaw said in a news release Monday.
Davis has been the cooperative's vice president of engineering and operations since joining the company in 1988. Before that, he spent nine years with SCE&G and was serving as district manager of the electric utility's Allendale district manager when hired by Palmetto Electric.
Davis is a member of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association's Transmission and Distribution Committee and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. He is involved with the Electric Cooperatives of S.C. Engineering Association and is chairman of the NRECA Cooperative Research Network Distribution Operations Management Advisory Group.
Davis is a former Rotarian and Paul Harris Fellow, past president of the Coastal Discovery Museum, and a former director of the United Way of Beaufort County and member of the Beaufort County Economic Development Board.
