A story in the Jan. 23 Beaufort Gazette concerning the invoice for city services for the Lt. Dan Weekend 3 in Beaufort had the following statement: "Lt. Dan Weekend is conducted by the Independence Fund and benefits the Wounded Warrior Project."
The Independence Fund (www.independencefund.org) is a Beaufort-based, all-volunteer foundation with 93 percent of all funds raised going directly to veteran care and has no association with the Wounded Warrior Project.
Missing from the story was that a large part of the city's invoice reduction was that The Greenery donated more than $3,000 of its services as an in-kind donation to the Independence Fund.
The LDW3 team would again thank the city of Beaufort for its excellent support for services associated with the weekend. It was great.
Dick Clarke, director of operations
