Hilton Head Island teen Ja'quard Qu'vonte Aiken is scheduled to face a Circuit Court judge at 2 p.m. today for a bond hearing on the charge of murdering an acquaintance on Marshland Road in December.
Aiken, 18, is accused of fatally shooting 19-year-old Cesar Reyna-Reyna in his front yard. Authorities arrested Aiken on Jan. 7, saying that forensic evidence from a shotgun recovered nearby linked him to the murder weapon. The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office has said it does not have a motive for the killing.
Aiken has been held at the Beaufort County Detention Center since his arrest because only a Circuit Court judge can set bonds for murder. Circuit Court judges come to the Beaufort County Courthouse to hear cases for one week each month.
The hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. Follow reporter Allison Stice at twitter.com/IPBG_Allison for updates.
