A 74-year-old Lady's Island man is accused of threatening to send a bomb to the S.C. Department of Insurance, according to the State Law Enforcement Division.
Charles Edward Deal III told an Insurance Department employee over the phone he would "send them a bomb" after he was told to file a written complaint to dispute the cancellation of his producers license, according to SLED. A producer's license allows the holder to sell insurance.
Deal was arrested Wednesday on a felony charge of threatening to use a destructive device. He was released on his own recognizance Thursday morning, according to the Beaufort County jail log.
Attempts Thursday to contact Deal for comment were unsuccessful.
