Since 1979, 16 schools have been attacked and 102 children slaughtered and 159 wounded in schools due to guns. How much longer will we have to endure these massacres?
Many of the assault weapons used were automatic or semi-automatic weapons that the National Rifle Association has lobbied against banning. A small but strident group that seems to have our legislators bullied has blocked any sensible gun laws.
The NRA has said, "Guns don't kill people; people kill people." But is this an accurate statement?
More accurately, as many have said, "No, people with guns kill people -- including children."
To paraphrase a passage in the movie "Network," we should be as mad as hell and not take this anymore.
Write your representatives in Congress, state legislators and anyone with spine to stand up to the NRA. (It has already stated it will do anything to stop new laws from being introduced or the reintroduction of the assault weapons ban.) Do something to end these senseless massacres by implementing strict gun control laws against these weapons of mass destruction.
