Members of the Hilton Head Area Home Builders Association joined together Dec. 14 at the Harbour Town Conference Center in The Sea Pines Resort for their annual holiday celebration where the 2013 officers and directors were installed and awards were presented to the Builder and Associate Members of the Year. The honor is presented each year to individuals representing the organization's builder and associate membership for the outstanding dedication and contributions to the association, the community and the building industry.
The 2012 Builder Member of the Year award was presented to Brian Esposito of Esposito Construction. Esposito has been an active member of the association for more than five years, serving multiple terms as a member and officer to the Board of Directors. In 2012 he served as the organization's Secretary/Treasurer. He also was an active participant on the association's Membership Committee, where he was instrumental in developing and implementing new programs and strategies for recruiting and retaining members. As a member of the association's Remodeler's Council, Esposito volunteerd his time and talents to projects like the preservation of the Gullah "Little House" and the exterior renovation of the Waddell Mariculture Center. Earlier in the evening, Esposito was installed as Vice President of Membership to the association's 2013 Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
The 2012 Associate Member of the Year was awarded to Carla Rohal of Cregger Company. Rohal has held many leadership positions on the association's Board of Directors in her more than 15 years of involvement. In 2012 she served as co-chairwoman to the association's Lowcountry Home & Garden Show Committee and the Builders Cup Golf Tournament Committee, leading both events to a year of record success. Rohal was awarded Associate Member of the Year once before in 2005.
Several other awards were presented during the evening. Patricia Strimpfel of Reclamation By Design received the 2012 President's Award in appreciation of her commitment and support to the association and building industry. David Gaal of Gaal Custom Homes & Remodeling and Mary-Lynn Reuter of Total Design Concepts were presented with Home Builders Association's Hammer Awards. The Hammer Award recognizes members who work behind the scenes, ensuring the success of programs, events and community service projects.
"This year's honorees have truly distinguished themselves as leaders in upholding the association's mission. They are the best of the best and it is an honor to work alongside them in their efforts to strengthen the building industry and our community," said Randy Jeffcoat, the 2012 Home Builders Association President.
