Two men hoping to hit the jackpot found themselves behind bars this week.
Wendell Radcliffe, 30, of Beaufort was arrested Wednesday on charges of second-degree burglary for allegedly breaking into the Shell gas station on Boundary Street on Sunday and stealing a case containing several hundred lottery tickets, according to the Beaufort Police Department.
Officers found the tickets in Radcliffe's home after executing a search warrant.
Jeremiah Henthorn, 21, of Beaufort, who was caught on video surveillance trying to redeem one of the stolen lottery tickets at a nearby gas station, was also charged, police said.
Radcliffe was being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center for prosecution. Henthorn, who was also charged with possession of marijuana, was released on his own recognizance.
