Port Royal police are looking for a man who robbed the Days Inn at gunpoint Monday night and eluded a search.
The man entered the hotel at 1660 Ribaut Road at 9:15 p.m., pulled out a silver and black handgun and demanded money, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report. A clerk gave the man the drawer from the register. The robber dumped the money into a plastic bag and took the clerk's wallet before running toward Ribaut Road, the report said.
Officers and a Sheriff's Office canine unit searched the area but were unable to find the robber. He is described only as wearing a black sweatshirt and blue jeans with white writing on the back pockets.
Photos of the suspect from surveillance footage, the amount of money stolen and other details were not available Tuesday afternoon from Port Royal police.
