GIRLS BASKETBALL

Thomas Heyward Academy 42, Colleton Prep 32: Brielle Jungblut had 17 points and six steals, and Jamie Malphrus had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds as the Rebels advanced to the finals of Colleton Prep's tournament.

Thomas Heyward (4-0) likely will face Laurence Manning in the title game at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Hilton Head Christian Academy 36, Holly Hill Academy 33: Audrey Bensch broke a tie with a three-point play with a little over a minute to play, and Andy Anderson made a pair of free throws in the closing moments for the final margin to lift the Eagles at the Colleton Prep tournament.

Bensch finished with nine points to lead HHCA (3-2). Ziara Doe and Monica Bundy added seven points, Macee Tamminen scored five, and Hannah Reynolds and Anderson had four apiece as the Eagles held on down the stretch.

Hilton Head Christian led 22-11 at halftime and was ahead by 15 during the third quarter before Holly Hill rallied with the help of fouls. Holly Hill shot 13 free throws in the fourth quarter.

Hilton Head Christian will finish up the tournament at noon Saturday against either Dorchester Academy or Hilton Head Prep.

WRESTLING

Hilton Head Island High: The Seahawks began the season Wednesday, splitting a pair of duals. Hilton Head High defeated South Effingham (Ga.), 44-25, but fell to Effingham (Ga.), 55-18. Matt Levy, at 106 pounds, went 2-0 on the night. J.C. Graham (220), Label Lewis (145) and Daniel Tennison (126) each registered a win by way of pin.

The Seahawks participate in the 16-team Whale Branch Duals on Saturday.
