BOYS BASKETBALL

James Island Christian 42, Beaufort Academy 41: Ben Hamilton's jumper with four seconds left lifted James Island Christian, which trailed 23-14 at the half.

Preston Suber had 18 points in the loss for Beaufort Academy (2-2). Conner Akers added 13 points and Finn Koppernaes scored eight for the Eagles, who gave up 22 offensive rebounds to James Island Christian.

"We kind of fell apart down the stretch," Eagles coach Chip Dinkins said. "I thought we played a little bit timid at the end."

The Eagles are off until Dec. 5, when they play at Trinity Collegiate in Darlington.

Hilton Head Christian Academy 45, Dorchester Academy 27: Zach Polk scored 16 points, and Brad Meccariello added 11 as the Eagles started Colleton Prep's tournament with a win. Caleb Lewis chipped in eight points for Hilton Head Christian (2-0), which plays either St. John's or Thomas Heyward Academy at 8 p.m. Thursday in the next round.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Thomas Heyward Academy 34, Holly Hill Academy 24: Jamie Malphrus had 12 points, 10 rebounds and five steals, and Brielle Jungblut scored 14 points to help the Rebels win in the first round of the Colleton Prep tournament.

Thomas Heyward (3-0) advances to face Colleton Prep at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Colleton Prep 51, Hilton Head Christian Academy 46: The Eagles hung close throughout before falling in play at the Colleton Prep tournament.

Macee Tamminen had 19 points to lead Hilton Head Christian, which trailed 20-16 at halftime. Monica Bundy chipped in nine points.

The Eagles resume tournament action Thursday.

James Island Christian 42, Beaufort Academy 32: The Eagles fell behind 12-1 in the early moments and were never able to get even. Beaufort Academy (1-3) also was outrebounded, 35-13.

Miranda Weslake had 12 points and Charlotte Delfosse added seven for the Eagles, who play Dec. 5 at Trinity Collegiate.

Lori Guerard led James Island Christian with 14 points.

MIDDLE SCHOOL BASKETBALL

St. Francis Catholic School will host a tournament for six area boys and girls teams starting at 4 p.m. today. The girls championship game is scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday, with the boys title contest to follow at 7 p.m.
