Recently, at least one T-shirt has been observed with the slogan, "America died 11/6/12."
Perhaps individuals wearing such shirts should spend a little more time reading American history instead of listening to Rush Limbaugh and FOX News. If they would use their reading glasses a little more and their hearing aids a little less, they might come to understand that one of the greatest characteristics of this magnificent nation is its ability to adapt to changing times and circumstances.
Our nation is in a constant state of evolution. Just look at where we have come in the past 236 years. Spend time examining the turmoil of some of the numerous events we have endured and how each time we have elevated our status as a better, more understanding and diverse nation.
We are the envy of the world, not because we died, but because we are continuing our never-ending evolution. If the people wearing the "America died" T-shirts would spend time examining our history they might change the wording to: "America died 11/6/12 and resurfaced as better and stronger 11/7/12."
