HILTON HEAD RUGBY CONCLUDES FALL SEASON

The Hilton Head Rugby team wrapped up the fall portion of its schedule with a 22-8 loss to host Charleston on Saturday.

Salvadore Cunha had a try for Hilton Head, while Mitchell Thoreson added drop goal.

Hilton Head's spring season begins the first week of February.

ENDURANCE ATHLETE TO SPEAK IN BLUFFTON

Kellie Smirnoff, one of the world's top female endurance athletes, will be the guest speaker at Monday night's meeting of the Athletic Club of the Lowcountry at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church on Buckwalter Parkway.

Smirnoff was the top overall finisher at the 2011 EPICMAN Challenge on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii. The Triple Ironman consisted of a 7.2-mile swim, 336 miles of biking and a 78.6-mile run. She finished in a time of 48 hours, 30 minutes and 50 seconds.

This will be the last meeting for 2012. Refreshments will be available beginning at 6:30 p.m.

WESTMAN-BARTH EARNS BLACK BELT

Noah Westman-Barth, a student at Club Karate on Lady's Island, has earned his first degree Chun Kuk Do black belt. Westman-Barth a Club Karate student since 2006, reached his achievement Oct. 27 in North Augusta.
