The Italian-American Club of Hilton Head Island is accepting nominations until Dec. 1 for its inaugural John Calamari Humanitarian Award.
Established in memory of one of the club's founders, the award will recognize those who demonstrate "significant devotion to community service and human welfare."
Those eligible must be residents of Hilton Head or Bluffton and demonstrate the following: Aiding those less fortunate; improving local residents' lives; or making a significant difference to a club, organization, or individual. The winner receives $1,000 to be donated to a charity of his or her choice.
