Two upcoming golf events in Beaufort County -- the Beaufort City Championship and the Hilton Head Open -- still have plenty of room left in their fields with tournament time approaching quickly.
The Beaufort City Championship will be held July 28-29 at Fripp Island, while the Hilton Head Open is Aug. 4-5 at Wexford Plantation.
The City Championship, a 36-hole individual stroke play tournament, costs $150 and the registration deadline is July 25. It will be held on the Ocean Point Golf Links on Day 1 and Ocean Creek on Day 2.
Players will be flighted after Round 1, and the tournament is open to all Beaufort County residents.
The Open, a 36-hole individual medal play event, costs $175 and is open to the first 144 golfers. It will have two professional flights and two amateur flights and is open to all Beaufort County residents and property owners.
Professionals must be members of the Hilton Head Island chapter of the PGA.

JOHNSON BREAKS THROUGH
Bluffton's Elliott Johnson claimed his first International Junior Golf Tour title in the Boys 15-19 Division of the IJGT Junior held Monday and Tuesday at Dolphin Head Golf Club after closing with a tournament total of 156.
Johnson opened with a great first-round score of 3-over-par 75, highlighted by 133 pars and a birdie on the tough No 18.
On Tuesday, Johnson played his first three holes at 1 under before double-bogeying No. 4. He rebounded with four pars in his next five holes and cruised to an 81 on the day for a three-stroke victory.
Ridgeland's Cody Hewatt tied for fourth at 162, six strokes back. In the Boys 14-under Division, Hilton Head Island's Alan Xu finished third.
WEARYS FINISH WELL
Bluffton's Alec Weary finished second in the Boys 11-14 Division of the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour's Wilmington Island Junior Open held July 12-13 at Wilmington Island Club in Savannah, Ga. Weary, who finished one stroke back, had a two-day total of 4-over 71-75--146.
Alec Weary's younger brother Drew finished tied for fifth at 15 over, while Hilton Head Island's Alex Thaller was ninth.
