A Beaufort woman was charged Monday with felony bribery and conspiracy after she allegedly tried to bribe a resident to drop charges against her daughter.
Michelle Mattox, 45, is accused of phoning the resident and offering money in exchange for dropping a forgery case against her daughter, according to Beaufort Police Chief Matt Clancy. The amount Mattox tried to give the resident was not available Tuesday.
Mattox is in the Beaufort County Detention Center, with bond set at $10,000.
