Make it safe for children to walk along Main Street

After building numerous bike paths to nowhere, town planners should consider a walking path along north Main Street from the public school campus to Museum Street.

There is no sidewalk along this section of Main Street, and schoolchildren are forced to walk either on adjacent properties or in the street. Periodically, teachers can be seen herding their students on the way to some outing following the same path.

Since numerous young teenagers zoom along this road at the same time that younger students are walking near the edge of the road, we are looking at a recipe for a disaster. Rather than spending large sums to construct circular walkways on roundabouts that are impossible to access, such funds should be allocated to lowering the traffic risk to our children who walk home along Main Street.
