The Town of Hilton Head Island Fire & Rescue Division received a $2,000 fire-prevention grant from FM Global, one of the world's largest property insurers, according to a division press release.
FM Global representatives presented the award to Fire Marshal Joheida Fister during a meeting Sept. 15 at Town Hall. The money will be used to purchase smoke alarms for the division's community smoke alarm program, the release said.
Because fire continues to be the leading cause of property damage worldwide, FM Global has contributed millions of dollars in fire prevention grants during the past 30 years to fire service organizations around the globe, according to the release.
