As Hurricane Sandy approaches the northeastern portion of the United States, linemen from Palmetto Electric Cooperative are on their way to help repair anticipated damage caused by the storm, according to a company news release.

Palmetto Electric dispatched early this morning a crew of five men, two bucket trucks and one service truck to Adams Electric Cooperative in Gettysburg, Pa., which serves about 31,000 customers.

"We plan and train for events like this, so when our cooperative neighbors need help, we are ready to send crews to assist with any restoration efforts," G. Thomas Upshaw, president and CEO of Palmetto Electric, said in the release.
