Contractors again cut a Hargray Communications fiber optic cable in Bluffton, but customers were not affected.
The cable, Internet and phone provider said services were rerouted through a redundant pathway when lines were severed Wednesday. Company vice president of sales and marketing Andrew Rein called cutting the cable "an honest mistake." Rein said the contractor properly located and marked utility lines before digging, including Hargray fiber, but still inadvertently cut the line.
He did not know what work the contractor was doing near the intersection of S.C. 170 and Plantation Drive.
About 75 businesses and 1,000 homes near Tanger Outlet Center 1 and Moss Creek lost service for several hours Oct. 13.
