Two men have been charged with criminal sexual conduct after a 14-year-old New Jersey girl said she was raped July 29 at a house in Beaufort.
Christopher Jordan Scott, 19, of Beaufort and Aaron Michael Ginn, 20, of Maryland were in the Beaufort County Detention Center as of late Friday with bonds set at $100,000 each. They face one charge of criminal sexual conduct with a minor and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The girl was visiting family on St. Helena Island and went to the house of a 17-year-old female friend July 28. Sometime after 11 p.m., she got into a vehicle with the two men, according to a written statement from the victim's friend and a witness who was in the car.
The men drove to an abandoned house on Second Street, where all four were drinking a mixture of cough syrup and alcohol, according to Sheriff's Office reports. The victim and both men went into a bedroom for about 45 minutes, according to the witness. Scott and Ginn then left the house, and the victim was found naked and unconscious on the floor, the witness said.
The witness then said she called a friend to pick them up and took the victim to a gas station, where they gave her Gatorade and Red Bull until she regained consciousness. The next morning, the witness said, the victim could not remember what happened.
Relatives said the victim told them Aug. 5 when she returned to New Jersey. Reports were filed Aug. 6 with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
