Two dozen downtown Beaufort merchants are covering the cost of parking on Bay Street, between Carteret and Charles streets, next week as part of a customer appreciation week. Merchants will also give away prizes in drawings at 3 p.m. Sept. 29 in the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park. Businesses also intend to offer special discounts during the week and perks, such as live music and food.
