A Burton family of seven was displaced Tuesday night when a fire that began in their garage spread to their home.
Burton Fire District spokesman Dan Byrne said the fire destroyed the Pine Grove Road house's garage and damaged the home's roof supports, rendering it uninhabitable.
The Red Cross provided the family with temporary lodging and other assistance.
The Beaufort County Fire Scene Investigation Team is investigating the cause of the blaze, Byrne said.
