A fire at a St. Helena Island mobile home drove a family of four -- a mother and three children -- out of its home Wednesday night.

The Lady's Island-St. Helena Fire District was called to 2990 Carolina Causeway at about 10 p.m. and battled the fire about three and half hours, according to fire district spokesman Lee Levesque. The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, EMS and the Red Cross also responded.

No one was injured but the home cannot be lived in, Levesque said. The cause of the fire has not been determined, but it is not considered suspicious, he added.

Red Cross volunteers provided the family with temporary housing, money to replace food and clothing, personal hygiene items and contacts to help them with long-term recovery.
