Beaufort Memorial Hospital has withdrawn its appeal of a ruling by the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control in favor of Hilton Head Hospital's plan to build an outpatient center in Bluffton.
The appeal, filed with the S.C. Administrative Law Court, is still being pursued by Savannah-based St. Joseph's/Candler Health System.
"In reviewing the issue, Beaufort Memorial decided to drop the appeal and move on," hospital president and CEO Rick Toomey said. "There are many health care needs in the growing Bluffton market, and we will continue to focus on meeting those needs."
