A 90-year-old Hilton Head Island man suspected of killing his wife and attempting suicide is in stable condition despite serious injuries, according to Beaufort County Sheriff P.J. Tanner.
John Cross was found in his home in the Seabrook retirement community Sunday after he had shot and cut himself. He was first taken to Hilton Head Hospital and later transferred to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, Tanner said.
His wife, Page Cross, 84, was found dead of multiple lacerations, according to the county Coroner's Office.
No charges have been filed against Cross. The investigation continues, and autopsy results are pending.
