The Beaufort County Coroner's Office has identified the mother and son who were killed in a single-car crash Friday in Hilton Head Plantation as Blain Leonard Arvig, 31, and Emily Jean Arvig, 56.
Blain Arvig was a Hilton Head Island resident and driving the pickup truck at about 3:30 p.m. in the gated community when he disregarded a stop sign and hit a tree, the S.C. Highway Patrol said. He and his mother, who lived in Melrose, Minn., were declared dead at the scene.
Lance Cpl. Brent Kelly of the Highway Patrol said the accident investigation continues.
