A Beaufort man faces attempted-murder charges for allegedly firing shots at a vehicle after an argument that began on the front porch of his Harding Street home early Sunday, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
Christopher Gaskins, 25, was arrested at about 1:20 a.m. and is being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center on $100,000 bond, according to the jail log.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the mother of Gaskins' child arrived at Gaskins' home early Sunday morning and an argument ensued. The disagreement turned physical, the woman lost her car keys and then called a relative who helped her find them, authorities say.
The relative was driving away the woman's car when Gaskins allegedly fired a handgun, striking the vehicle several times. No one was injured by the shots, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Deputies who responded found enough evidence, such as shell casings in the street, to charge Gaskins with attempted murder, according to an incident report.
The investigation is active.
