The current Hampton District 2 superintendent will be the new director of the Beaufort-Jasper Academy for Career Excellence.

Deonia Simmons will start July 1. He has been a middle and high school science teacher in North Carolina and Florida, and a middle school administrator in Florida. He's been the superintendent in Hampton since 2009.

Chris Dinkins resigned as ACE director in December.
