Several IRS-sponsored volunteers with the Lowcountry Area VITA Coalition are offering free tax help to people in Beaufort County:

  • Island Recreation Center, Hilton Head Island, 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays.
  • Beaufort library, 1 to 4 p.m. Mondays and 2 to 7 p.m. Thursdays.
  • Bluffton library, noon to 7 p.m. Mondays.
  • University of South Carolina Beaufort Hilton Head Gateway Campus, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
  • Lobeco library, 1862 Trask Parkway, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
  • Goodwill Industries, 509 Island West Park, Okatie, 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays.
  • Franciscan Center, 85 Mattis Road, St. Helena Island, 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays.
  • Those using the service should bring W-2 forms, 1099-R forms and any other pertinent information, plus last year's tax return and a photo ID.
