First Presbyterian Church Hilton Head Island is hosting a Civil War and Gullah history program at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the sanctuary. Dr. Emory Campbell will discuss the impact of slavery on Lowcountry African-Americans, from antebellum times through his own lifetime on Hilton Head. Campbell is the former executive director of Penn Center and current chairman of the federal Gullah-Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor Commission. The church is at 540 William Hilton Parkway between mile markers 5 and 6.
