Area football teams square off today in the Lowcountry Jamboree, which will be held at Beaufort High School's Eagles Stadium.
Battery Creek, Hilton Head High, Ridgeland, Whale Branch and the host Eagles are scheduled to participate. Admission proceeds will go to help buy new helmets for the Beaufort High squad, athletics director Jerry Linn said.
Linn said the Beaufort High field is being treated for insects and weeds and appears scorched, but that the surface is playable and should be ready in time for the Eagles home opener.
